For the speech and debate team, there were a lot of changes this season – namely, competing online rather than in person. While it meant no more pre-dawn mornings to drive to tournament locations, it also meant there was none of the pressure and excitement associated with competing in-person.
“I’m so thankful we are able to compete this year, there is no doubt about that. We lost out on state CX competition as well as all of our other spring contests last year,” coach Melonie Menefee said. “I can’t wait for all this to be over with, though, so we can go back to meeting and competing in person. It is a whole different atmosphere and a much better experience.”
