Starting school face-to-face meant daily temperature checks for every student walking in the front door. While assistant principal Lu Olvera greeted students at the back entrance, the teachers on weekly duty manned the thermometers, isolating any student with a high temperature for a recheck before either sending them to class or sending them home.
“All of the precautions are hard to remember and take a lot of time each day,” teacher Melonie Menefee said. “However, doing what it takes to keep our students and staff safe and healthy has to take priority. And at least it gives us something to do while we have morning duty.”
