Giddy up, cowgirl!
Last week, senior Ima Champion signed her letter of intent to become a part of the Trinity Valley Community College Rodeo Team. Champion has been involved in rodeo activities since she was a young girl.
“I am beyond blessed to continue to do what I love,” Champion said. “Rodeo has been a part of me since I can remember; I simply don’t see myself not doing it.”
Champion has participated in rodeo competitions throughout her life. In fact, she has even competed at the national level and has received many awards.
“Rodeo is an extremely hard sport,” Champions said. “It takes a lot of hours of hard work and dedication to be able to excel in it. I have been doing it for several years now and I can guarantee you to took a lot of practice to be able to be where I am today.”
Champion is also involved in cheer and FFA.
“Ima is one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet,” junior Makayla Gilliam said. “I do FFA and Cheer with her and throughout all the practices, game, and meets I have had with her I can say she is always so positive and gives her best in everything that she does. She is one special girl.”
Champion is excited to be rodeoing for TVCC.
“TVCC has such a great rodeo program,” Champion said. “I knew for sure they were one of my top choices. The coaches and other members there are amazing.”
