Puerto Rico is still in the process of recovering from Hurricane Maria, but the odds are not in their favor because they have just been hit with an island-wide blackout on Wednesday. It has been seven months since Hurricane Maria devastated the island and their power grid has been unstable ever since. Cobra, an energy company contracted to restore the island’s electrical infrastructure, was responsible when one of their subcontractors hit a major powerline with an excavator while removing a collapsed tower. This is the second power failure that affected the citizens in less than two weeks. This blackout could last anywhere from 24-36 hours, officials say, and this affects more than 3 million Americans who live on the island.
