Senior Taylor Rutledge goes up for the kill. The Lady Bison made their early-season goal of making the playoffs, but lost out in their Bi-District bid against Anderson-Shiro.

After pulling off a victory against Rice in a play-off game for third place in district, the Lady Bison took on Anderson-Shiro last Monday in a bid for the bi-district championship. Although they did not make it past the opposing team to move deeper into the play-offs, the girls were pleased that they had met their goal of making it out of district this season.

“Just to make it to playoffs was an honor,” senior Taylor Rutledge said. “We ended up losing the first round, but I’m just happy we even got to go to playoffs.”

The girls put in nearly four months of practices, starting with two-a-days in August. They made it a mission to practice each day with determination and a positive attitude.

“Only our team knew the hard work we put in to make it that far,” sophomore Allison Grissett said. “So it was really special to us.”

The majority of the volleyball team had never been to playoffs before, so most of them had to shake off the first time nervousness and get ready to play some volleyball.

“We couldn’t be nervous,” sophomore Jacie Jones said. “We all had to play as a team.”
