Home is where the heart is, or wherever the food is. Earlier this month, FCCLA members traveled to the local Brookshire Brothers and set up food stands for the public to try. This is an annual event for the local store.
“It was an optional event,” freshman Callie Harter said. “I had a lot of fun and thought that it allowed us to give to the public.”
Mostly freshman attended this event. They each made sample platters full of desserts to give to the public.
“Most of the freshman in the group did this,” freshman Betsy Martinez said. “The food we made was good and I think the community enjoyed it.”
This project was a great way to give back to the public and for students to show off their cooking skills.
“I am not going to lie, I just wanted to see how people would react to how I cooked,” Martinez said. “It was fun and I can’t wait to do it next year.”
