Anatomy classes are changing it up by having students make artificial wounds with what is in the lab and whatever they can bring.
The day before Halloween, the classes made fake wounds using toilet paper, vaseline, cocoa powder and glue.
“We did it to celebrate Halloween,” senior Sean Haycock said. “Mrs. McMullen wanted to do something relaxing for this project.”
Although the project was intended to be fun, there was also a purpose behind it.
“For the project, we were supposed to analyze the wound, measure the depth and determine how long it would take it to heal,” senior Kaiden Loep said. “It was a lot of fun and really easy to do.”
Prior to this year, anatomy classes had never done this before.
“I asked some of the people who had take anatomy before and they all told me they had never done this before,” senior Melanie Slay. “It was kind of cool to do something the class had never done before.”
Some of the groups bought extra supplies to make their wounds look more realistic.
“The people in our group brought fake blood and food coloring,” Slay said. “Adding the blood made it ten times more realistic. It was the coolest thing. I hope we will be able to do this again.”
