Massive wildfires have swept over northern California. More than 8,000 firefighters are fighting off over 20 large fires. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said that more than 190,000 acres of land have been charred due to flames intensified by strong winds. Also 3,500 structures are left destroyed. More than 20,000 Californians have been forced to evacuate.
There are hundreds of people missing and there have been 31 killed. This number exceeds the number of deaths in the 1933 Griffith Park Fire, the biggest and deadliest wildfire in California history. In the Sonoma county, there were 400 people unaccounted for; out of 1,000 missing people files there have been 600 located.
