U.S. journalist Christopher Allen was killed in South Sudan in a fight between government troops and rebels in Yei River state. 19 people in total were killed, with Allen being the only U.S. citizen. Allen worked for various news outlets and was journaling about the civil war happening currently specifically in the town of Kaya.
The civil war is the government vs. the people. There was a peace agreement (Cobra Faction) met for a time but it failed to halt fighting after three years. Ethnic divides and background differences have really had a huge impact on this war and really separated the nation.
