Spring is the season for growing plants, and the Ag classes are using the greenhouse to get into the spirit of spring by growing an assortment of plants, herbs and flowers. The classes visit the greenhouse regularly to water their crops.
“Students love the greenhouse because it gives them an opportunity to get out of the regular classroom and do something with their hands,” teacher Mikaela Hall said. “The students love getting their hands dirty while working with the plants and soil.”
On each visit to the greenhouse, the students monitor their own plants and water them as needed.
“I enjoy going to the greenhouse because it’s fun and I learn different things,” freshman Kendall Reynolds said. “On our most recent visit, I learned what a water wall was. My favorite thing about visiting the greenhouse is planting plants, because I’m getting to give something life.”
Students say they enjoy the responsibility.
“I’ve learned that it can be hard to keep plants alive and looking good,” sophomore Jacob Patterson said. “My favorite thing is when we water the outside plants, because it reminds me of when I used to do that with my grandma.”
