Shishmaref, Alaska, is at risk of falling apart as the weather and climate change rapidly. A local man says that all of his neighbors have moved out and moved further inland. They believe the edge of the island may fall into the sea.
Residents of the small Alaskan village voted last summer to relocate their entire community from a barrier island that has been steadily disappearing because of erosion and flooding attributed to climate change. Much of the community is expected to be under water within a few decades. The same is true for several Alaskan sea-side communities.
