While freshman and sophomores took benchmarks to prepare for their EOC’s the junior class prepped for their American History EOC and the senior classes spent the day learning “life lessons.”
“The seniors were split into groups and taught different things,” Ag teacher, Henry Goff said. “They were taught lots of things they might need to know after high school.”
Being outside of the routine of a typical day made it all a bit more fun.
“I did have to learn about history mostly the whole day but that was a lot better than our normal days,” junior Dawson Adams said. “I was excited about the day.”
Students with an English benchmark still to pass, which included all of the freshmen and sophomores, completed a full-length practice test.
“It felt like the real thing,” sophomore Josalyn Taylor said. “I think doing those benchmarks was a really good idea.”
The seniors rotated between CPR classes and other lessons on things like how to maintain an automobile.
“The most important thing for the teachers when planning this day was that it not be a wasted day for the students not taking an ELA test,” English department head Melonie Menefee said. “We have too much to do to waste time on days off.”
