Earlier this week, senior Evan Grisham traveled to the Region 6 Service Center in Huntsville, Texas to compete in a school bus safety contest. He will now be traveling to Waco, Texas in April to participate in the state competition.
“This is my first year to compete in this,” Grisham said. “However, I am excited to get to go to state and compete for the scholarship opportunity.”
The bus safety contest is a yearly scholarship opportunity. Those who compete in the first round receive a $50 and a trip to Waco for the chance to win $1,000.
“I gave a speech on the training measures that bus drivers undergo,” Grisham said. “Bus drivers are kind of like safety heroes.”
Grisham, who is also competes on the national level for the debate team, is very confident that he will win the top prize of $1,000.
“I am pretty confident in myself because of my speech and debate background,” Grisham said. “However, I am ready for there to be some competition.”
