Last week, Sargento Foods decided to cut their supplier Deutsch Kase Haus after having to recall most of their cheeses due to the possibility of listeria contamination.
On February 10, Sargento Foods recalled some of their dairy products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes that originated in the supplier’s facility. On February 17, Sargento voluntarily expanded the recall out of concern for the health and well-being of their consumers. In total Sargento recalled 14 types of cheeses including: Sargento sliced Colby Jack, Sliced Muenster, Sliced Pepper Jack, and Ultra thin Sliced Longhorn Colby.
The cheese maker created an information website so their consumers could check to see if they had a recalled product. The website is info.sargento.com. So far there have been no confirmed cases of listeria linked to the cheeses.
