The annual regional competition for FCCLA rolled around last weekend, with teams travelling to Galveston to compete. Four of the six entries from BHS will compete at the state convention in an effort to make it to nationals this summer.
“We all did well, and some of us are advancing,” sophomore Makayla Gilliam said. “The state convention is in April.”
Although the members were there to compete, they still made time to make new friends from among the hundreds of students attending.
“It was fun and we got to meet new people,” Gilliam said. “It was an great experience.”
The events that Buffalo competed in ranged from FCSA testing to parliamentary procedure.
“FCSA testing was really fun,” sophomore Lupita Martinez said.
Being at the convention was about competition, but that didn’t stop them from having fun.
“It was really fun at Galveston,” Martinez said. “Especially winning a gold in FCSA testing.”
