On a Friday, 18 years ago, a woman posing as a healthcare worker approached a young mother of a newborn, took her infant under the pretext of being a nurse, and simply walked out of the hospital with her. Eighteen years later, that infant, now a teen, was found alive and well in Walterboro, South Carolina.
A 51-year-old woman named Gloria Williams was arrested in connection to the abduction. The teenage girl, who has gone by her new name for her entire life, has already graduated high school and has a steady boyfriend.
According to a law enforcement officer, the young lady “had an inclination beginning a couple of months ago” that she may have been abducted. “She’s taking it as well as you can imagine,” he said. “She has a lot to process. She has a lot to think about.”
