Sophomore Brenda Garcia was born in Gadsden, Alabama and lived there until she moved to Buffalo during PreK. She has been here ever since.
“I do love this town, even though I can’t compare it to where I was born because I don’t remember much about it,” Garcia said. “Moving here was a good decision because I have made great friends here, and it’s really quiet and peaceful.”
As much as she loves it here, she knows that one day she will head to a bigger city so she can become a pediatrician and help babies.
“I will always miss this town and what it has offered for me when I graduate in a few years, but I need to go to a bigger place and get better opportunities,” Garcia said. “This town has taught me a lot and made me the girl I am today, and I’m proud to say I grew up here.”
Garcia is involved in some events here and enjoys her activities.
“I’m in Belles and softball, and I push myself now because lately I’ve been slacking and I realized I need to stop,” Garcia said.
Belles is a lot of work, but is an activity that Garcia said she knows is important.
“I have slacked off before and not cared much about it,” Garcia said. “But I realize that I love it and I need to show it more attention.”
Garcia has two siblings, one in college and another in middle school. Her younger brother thinks she is a great dancer.
“I realize that many of my family watch, and friends too,” Garcia said. “Me slacking off isn’t showing much for our drill team or for myself.”
Garcia likes softball and that interferes with Belles in the spring, which makes it hard on her schedule with balancing it all.
“I do hope to be in softball this upcoming season, and I’m going to try my best to keep it all worked out,” Garcia said.
