Organizations all over campus worked together to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer last week, with pink out activities and t-shirts at the pep rally and games.
The cheerleaders and football players honored BISD survivors with pink carnations and seats of honor at the pep rally. Mary Lynn Skelton, Jozette Jenkins, Karey Reeder and Leslie Mormon were all recognized.
“I love supporting our coaches and fellow women,” senior Gracie Davis said. “When we do this every year, I love seeing the eyes of everyone light up when we see how many women have gone through the horrible battle of breast cancer.”
Students look forward to the Pink Out activities every year.
“I always love doing the pink-out pep rallies,” junior Taylor Lack said. “No one in my family has had breast cancer before, but I still want to help and raise awareness.”
The activities are the most meaningful for students whose parents or other family members have fought the battle.
“It has been a really hard journey for my mom,” freshman Emma Reeder said. “It helps that so many people are here to help us through this journey.”
