Power lifting team places fourth at Elkhart

Lifting weights sounds like a simple thing, but when it comes to competing against other teams at who can lift more, it can be a real challenge. The Bison proved themselves at the Elkhart meet

Saturday, placing fourth overall.

 

“The guys did a great job at the meet,” athletic director Gary Grubbs said. “I have many goals for the boys and the girls this year.”

A number of the boys placed at the meet Gerson Montano second, Marcos Dominguez third, Dillon Beshears third, Benito Rivas third, Chris Soria fourth, Ulices Guerrero sixth, Hector Dominguez fifth, and Sammy Cervantes seventh. The team placed overall fourth with a total of 17 points.

“It was a lot of fun,” junior Dillon Beshears said. “Since this is my second, year I know a little more what to do, but there was a lot of big competition.”

Grubbs said he has big plans this year, including placing at district next month. He has the team practicing and lifting non-stop.

“I really like this sport,” Guerrero said. “Going to the competition was a lot of fun. I hope we do really good at district because we have been working really hard.”
