Meet the Bison draws a crowd
Purple and gold was everywhere as students and community members came together for the annual Meet the Bison event sponsored by the Bison Booster Club. A baked potato dinner kicked off the event, which was a combination of spirit raising-pep rally events and fund raiser.
With dinner out of the way, fans made their way into the gym to be introduced to members of the football and volleyball teams, the band, Belles and cheerleaders. Auctions for cakes and parking spots were held between introductions and performances.
“I was very glad to see a lot of people from the community come to support us,” junior Matt Gilliam said. “It makes us want to really make everyone proud.”
Last year’s graduates were mixed in the crowd, making current seniors realize that this was their last Meet the Bison, an event many of them have been participating in since junior high.
“This year’s Meet the Bison was bittersweet because it was my last one as a volleyball player and cheerleader,” senior Jacie Jones said. “But, we had a really great turnout, and we are all thankful to have so many supporters throughout the entire town.”
A lot of money was raised at Meet the Bison due to the support of the community both with the potato dinner and with silent and live auctions during the event.
“A bunch of the town came to support us and that means so much,” senior Kendall Morales said. “I know we are all so thankful to live in such a supportive community.”
