The Bison and Lady Bison traveled to Onalaska on Friday night to resume district play. Both the Bison and Lady Bison Varsity teams picked up victories.

The Bison opened district play with Onalaska. They came out with an aggressive 45-44 road win to start district play with a 1-0 record.

Bryce Ryder led the way for the Bison with 15 points. Layne Shelton added 11, OT Garcia 10, Rhett Kilgore 5, and Dylan Harris 4.

“The effort on defense is what won the game for us. Matt Gilliam came in off the bench and gave us a tremendous boost on the defensive end,” Head Boys Basketball Coach Neal Welch said. “It was nice to see a display of team basketball. Our goal is to be playing our best basketball in district play. We aren’t at our best yet, but we are taking the necessary steps and starting to understand what it takes to win.”

The Lady Bison took a 45-30 victory over Onalaska to advance to 3-0 in district play.

Maci Hoffman led the way for the Lady Bison with 16 points. Jordan Jenkins added 14, Allison Grissett 6, Marissa Jones 3, Kendall Lee, Taylor Shelton, and Taryn Morman 2 each.

“Our team has come together and played some pretty awesome team ball,” senior Taryn Morman said. The important thing now is to continue playing our game. We have a goal to go all the way this year. A goal without a plan is just a wish. We plan on making it reality.”

The Bison and Lady Bison will continue district play as they host Westwood on Tuesday before traveling to Crockett on Friday night.
