Lady Bison win season opener
The Lady Bison basketball team traveled to Bremond on Tuesday to kick off pre-season. The team finished with a huge 58-39 win.
“This is a great way to start off the season,” senior Taryn Morman said. “Everyone was on one accord and we played like a team with confidence.”
Morman, along with Jordan Jenkins and Allison Grissett, were the top scorers for Tuesday night’s game. Jenkins finished with 19, Morman with 12 and Grissett with 11.
“I’m excited to see what’s in store for this season,” head coach Jozette Jenkins said. “Not some, but all of the members on the varsity team put points on the board. That hasn’t happened since my first year here.”
The girls started practice a week ago, and from the sounds of it, it has not been easy. Jenkins has implemented many new workouts into her practice.
“No matter what the weather is like, every week we go outside to do “hill work”, which consists of running and bounding up a hill,” junior Taylor Shelton said. “Practices get more and more intense every year, however, the hard work that we put into practice shows on the court. For example, on Tuesday you could tell that we were way more in shape than the other team.”
The next game for the Lady Bison will be in Groesbeck on Friday.
