The freshmen visited the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. The trip took place after they read about the Holocaust in their English 1 class and gave them a chance to learn even more about the event.
“It was a really good experience to see what they went through,” freshman Andi Scales said. “I learned a lot about the Holocaust.”
Throughout the Holocaust portion of the museum, there were stations where students could listen to survivors talk about their experiences and memories that they will forever have. The museum also had artifacts from the Holocaust like patches and clothes, journals and more.
“It was really interesting to hear the survivors,” freshman Micheal Miller said “I didn’t really know all the details about the Holocaust until I saw everything.”
Before the students finished their trip, they watched a film about the Holocaust. The film was very emotional and went into a lot of detail about the events and the end of the Holocaust.
“The film was really impactful,” freshman Priscilla Portillo said. “It made it all seem real.”
