Percy Jackson offers tons of adventure

Rick Riordian is an American author best known for writing the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. Riordan’s books have been translated into forty-two languages and sold more than thirty million copies in the United States. My favorite book out of the series is The Lightning Thief.

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his school or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse – Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When he tries to tell everyone they think he is crazy, but when Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from. She also knows he has to go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods, where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea.

Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends (one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena), he asks for help and they set out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld to prevent a catastrophic war between the gods. Percy and his friends have to be quick or the deadliest war will happen.

I absolutely love this book. It made me want to keep reading the series. The events that happen are amazing and it is well worth the read.
