Seniors hope to start new tradition with Senior Sunrise

Senior students won the battle with their alarm clock to attend Senior Sunrise. The event is a new one for the students, who hope to have a sunset ceremony together at the end of the year.

The orange and red rays of sunshine peeked through the clouds. Typically, the seniors would still have been in bed, but a new event, Senior Sunrise, had them up and at the football field to watch the sun come up together.

“This was a really thoughtful event,” senior Saloni Jariwala said. “I was able to start making many valuable memories with all my friends and classmates.”

Students participating were at the field by 6:30. The group made t-shirts at the last minute so that everyone could match while attending the first senior event of the year.

“I went to watch the sun rise because it was one of our first events as seniors, so I was excited,” senior Anthony Gonzalez said. “My favorite part was hanging out with my friends and classmates.”

After watching the sun come up, the seniors enjoyed doughnuts, kolaches and orange juice provided by senior parents.

“Even though it was really early, I went to enjoy these last moments with my classmates,” senior Avery Hardin said. “I loved how the school and parents were able to do something like this for us. I felt so special.”

Seniors hope to gather like this again towards the end of the year, but instead of a sunrise they’ll be watching the sunset, making the last bit of memories they can together.

“This was a great way for us to start the year off,” senior Hannah Travis said. “We’re making so many memories together as a class, and I can’t wait to make more at our next senior events.”
