Decisions on where to go to college usually culminate in a letter of rejection or acceptance and weighing the options. For students who hope to participate in sports activities in college, though, the decision is a little more complicated and the final decision takes place in front of a crowd, just like it did for two seniors signing letters of intent last week.

With family members, teachers and coaches, as well as classmates, watching, Katy Webb signed to be part of the TVCC Rodeo Team next fall, and Brett Hoffman signed to play football for Aurora College in Aurora Illinois.

Hoffman has played football since his freshman year and has always wanted to go beyond just playing in high school.

“When I got offered a scholarship to go and play for Aurora I didn’t think much of it at first because I really wanted to stay in Texas,” Hoffman said. “But after touring the college it felt like it was meant to be after all.”

Katy Webb has been riding horses and competing in rodeos since before she can remember.

“I am beyond excited to be attending TVCC to be on the rodeo team,” Webb said. “I have some friends attending also so I will go in knowing some people.”

The two seniors join Asa Henson, who signed earlier in the year to play football at Mary-Hardin Baylor, and Josie Henson, who will rodeo with Sam Houston.
