Printer problems have taken on a whole new meaning for senior Colby Menefee in teacher Patrice Cox’s scientific research and design class. He started working on a 3-D project at the beginning of this semester and continues to experiment.
“I am working on testing the efficiency of 3-D labware,” Menefee said. “I have been researching ways to drop the price of labware that most schools can’t afford.”
There are many different companies and places to buy used labware. But Menefee is looking for a way to change all that and give schools a way to produce their own.
“I have been working since the beginning of the semester on this project,” Menefee said. “I want to find a more efficient way to help science teachers in need of lab equipment.”
Colby will continue to build and sculpt new pieces of labware every day. He has thoroughly enjoyed making new labware in the 3-D machine.
“Colby has been working very hard on making this 3-D labware,” Cox said. “He continues to amaze me in all the things he comes up with.”
