The Bison Belles attended a Dance workshop at SFASU in Nacogdoches on Thursday. The Belles split into groups and learned three different dances. Some learned a hip hop while others learned jazz and contemporary.
“I felt like I improved my dancing and technique,” Lieutenant Kaline Martinez. “I had a lot of fun and got to grow my friendships with my fellow belles, and grow my passion for dance.”
After the dancers got split into three groups, they learned the first half of their dances and then broke for lunch.
“This was my first dance workshop,” freshman Miranda Rameriez said. “I had a blast, and I learned a lot about dance that I didn’t know about.
After lunch, the Belles went to a technique class to improve their splits, kicks, leaps and flexibility.
“I loved the technique class; I learned a lot of stuff that might have seemed like I should have already known, but I didn’t,” freshman Lindsey Hardin said. “It made my kicks and leaps look better, too.”
After the technique class, the dancers split back up into their groups and finished learning their dances.
“By the end of the day, I was very tired,” Sophomore Marie Herbert said. “I had a lot of fun, and my hip hop dance was so fun and upbeat.”
After all the dancers finished learning their dances they performed them for all the squads and then watched the SFA dance group perform.
“The SFA dance squad was so amazing to watch,” Captain Kayla Saenz said. “They are so talented, and I hope to be half as good a dancer as them someday.”
