This is our house – let’s blow their faces off!
Those are the words of band director Jeff Villarreal said just before the Bison Brigade went on to perform on the McAllen field for UIL contest.
“We’ve been working very hard since August,” Villarreal said. “This year took more time but we managed to push through and come out with a bang.”
The band received a score of 2, 2, 3, meaning the band got an overall score of a 2. The contest is rated on 1 being the best and 4 being the worst.
“I’m really proud with the band this year,” senior Dustin Goldman said.”We really worked hard to try and beat last year’s score, and it was hard with all the rain and bad weather.”
The Brigade’s show this year was “Fueled By Ramen.” The show included the songs Some Nights by Fun, Victorious by Panic at the Disco, Irresistible by Fall Out Boys and Ride by Twenty One Pilots.
“This years show was very entertaining,” assistant drum major Omar Almeida said. “The ensemble for Some Nights was pretty cool.”
While contest is over, the Brigade will continue to practice and perform.
“I’m proud of the job the Brigade has done all season long,” Drum Major Colby Menefee said. “We’ve had a great run despite fighting the weather for practice time. We still have plenty of performances to go, though, because football is having a successful season – we may be playing more this fall than ever before.”
