Chapter Conducting team places at Area
Since the beginning of this school year FFA teams have been practicing and studying for this month’s competitions. The Chapter Conducting Team turned their hard work into a fourth-place finish at area competition in Nacogdoches.
“During the trip and waiting for competition, it gave me the chance to get to know the people on my team better,” freshman Marissa Delacruz said. “It was very exciting, even though I was very nervous.”
The team won first place in the district competition in Madisonville. They were the only team to go on to area, which was held in Stephen F. Austin University.
“It was so amazing; I thought we weren’t going to win, but we did,” Delacruz said. “When they got to fourth I didn’t think we we’re going to make it, then they said first place.”
The team placed fourth at area where they were going against the best teams from multiple districts. They were two places away from making it to state.
“If we would’ve made it to state I would’ve been excited,” freshman Savannah Guevara said. “I was nervous going to area, I can’t imagine how nervous I would be at state.”
The team consisted of Mackenzie Ryder, President; Iveth Molina, Vice President; Shalyn Cotton, Secretary; Ashley Thunderhawk, Treasurer; Savanna Guevara, Reporter; Ima Champion, Advisor; Charles Bosh, Sential; and Marissa Delacruz, Marshall Jonas, and Reese Davis, Members.
