Senior Sarah Burchfield works on a journalism assignment during activity period.

Sarah Burchfield is a senior this year and has accomplished a lot in her four years here. As a senior she will be saying goodbye to Buffalo High School but not without leaving her mark.

Sarah is involved in a variety of clubs such as 4-H, Journalism and UIL. She is currently in UIL for Spelling and Journalism but is thinking about also joining the Computer Science portion of UIL.

I love the competition factor of it all,” Sarah said. “Being able to study all year in order to show off my skills, man. It’s a great feeling.”

All of her hard work has not gone unnoticed. Sarah placed in both Headline Writing and News Writing last year in UIL competition and went on to compete at Regionals. She has won dozens of ribbons for photography and earned enough competition points last year to be named as a member of the Texas All-State Journalism Staff. With all of her competing, she still manages to keep her grades up.

“At first it is hard, but it’s all about planning and prioritizing,” Sarah said. “Once everything is all planned out, it’s pretty okay.”
