FCCLA and FFA students had a chance to travel to the Texas State Fair last week to deliver canned goods from their food drives and to explore the fair.
“It’s tradition to go to the state fair,” junior Brock Corbitt said. “It was a lot of fun.”
Once the groups had stood in line to deliver their canned goods, they were free to explore the fair and eat all the fair foods they wanted. The Texas State Fair is widely known for their food. Their biggest hits are the burgers, hotdogs, and all things deep-fried.
“My favorite was the funnel cake,” freshman Estrella Carrillo said. “It tasted so good that I wanted another one.”
The rides were also a big draw for the students.
“My friends and I went through all the fun houses,” freshman Kaylin Ezell said. “It was super fun and I had a great time.”
The expositions were also a hit, with tons to look at and shop for.
“It was a lot of fun to look at all the cars,” freshman Yana Bharat said. “I also enjoyed looking at all the animals.”
The bus ride home at the end of the day was quiet, with students tired from a full day.
“I think we all had lots of fun and made lots of memories,” freshman Payton Breeding said. “I can’t wait to go back next year.”
