OAP advances to Area competition

Silvio, played by senior Trent Martin, and Clarice, played by junior Kayla Hutchins, argue during a scene.

One Act Play performed The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldini at District competition in Teague last week, earning one of two slots advancing out of district and to Area competition. Along with Teague High School’s cast and crew, which performed Company of Wayward Saints, the cast and crew will compete next Tuesday in Waco for a chance to compete at Regional.

“This success is very exciting for our OAP family,” director Jill Henson said. “Advancing from district was our first goal, and I am proud the students’ dedication has paid off.”

Rice High School performed The Beggar’s Opera and is the alternate play for Area. Other schools competing were Blooming Grove, Mildred, and Riesel.

In individual honors, senior Jade Morales earned a spot on the Honorable Mention All Star Cast, senior Preston Mosley was named to the All Star Cast and junior Kendall Lee was awarded Best Actress. Senior Kortni Hibbard was named as an All Star Crew member.

“These four students deserve the special recognition,” Henson said. “They are truly great leaders for the program.”
