Disney’s Encanto hits Disney+ just in time for the holidays, and still available in many theatres around the country as well. The film is a musical comedy, an imaginative and bright animation centered around the Madrigal family. They are an extraordinary family who live in the Colombian mountains in a charming, hidden place called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift … except Mirabel. But, she soon may be the Madrigals’ last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger.

Encanto is an amazing movie. The characters are unique and each one has their own charm. Anyone, despite age or gender, could enjoy it; It’s truly a movie for everyone. It’s almost two-hour runtime seems excessive, but the film fills up the time incredibly well, so much so that it doesn’t seem long or dragging.

Broadway producer Lin-Manuel Miranda was in charge of the music selection for the movie. Instead of the usual mellow and graceful soundtracks from previous Disney movies, the powerful beats and nice flow was an obvious work from Miranda. Hopefully, Disney will work with more music legends in the future.

The film has been met with good reviews from all across the internet. Critics gave it a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes calling it “enchanting, beautifully animated fun for the whole family,” and the audience rating was even higher, at 93%. The movie earned $116.1 million globally from its theatrical release alone. Encanto will be able to be streamed on Disney Plus at no extra cost on December 24.
