On top of showing at the Leon County Livestock Show, FFA students stayed busy  traveling to two different locations to compete in CDE Area Contests last week. Five teams will advance to state this week.

Teams advancing to state are Vet Science, Floriculture, Milk Quality and Production, and Livestock Judging.

“I am happy that we are going to state,” junior Marissa Delacruz said. “We worked so hard and it is nice to see it finally pay off.”

State Contest are spread throughout the week. On the April 26, Milk Quality will compete at Texas State. Floriculture state contest is Friday and Vet Science and Livestock Production are on Saturday. Students said earning a slot to compete was nerve-wracking.

“I was so nervous,” junior Ally Smith said. “These past couple of weeks have been very hard with the pressure of both livestock showing and studying for contests.”

Students with both livestock show and CDEs were extra stressed..

“This is has been a very stressful week, between showing my lamb and going to Huntsville,” sophomore Emma Reeder said. “I am ready for state and excited for how hard we work.”
