Bison kick off baseball season

The baseballs fly back and forth across the field as the team warms up at the start of the inning. There’s a chill in the air, but a hint of spring, too, and the players are just glad to be back under the field, this year under the guidance of coach Bryan Pauler.

“I’m so ready for baseball season,” freshman Cristo Martinez said. “I practice all year waiting for this season trying to improve more and more every year.”

New players weren’t the only ones ready to hit the field.

“I’ve been playing baseball since I was seven,” sophomore Aidan Savage said. “I’m still learning new ways to make myself better and to make sure I keep improving, but every game I see changes.”

For some of the boys it’s their last year to play baseball in high school, but they are hoping to make a career out of the game.

“I’m sad that I won’t be playing baseball for the school anymore next year,” senior Gavin Pruitt said, “But I’m really excited to see if I’m good enough to go to college and play professionally.”
