Bison Brigade members auditioned for CenTex Band and both Andi Kilgore and Yahir Zacarias made the cut, traveling to perform with the honor band last Saturday.

“Making Centex honor band really made me feel like I have a chance at being a musician when I grow up,” Kilgore said. “I think I have a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to see where that gets me in life.”

The students who didn’t make the honor band are dedicated to working twice as hard to make sure they do next year.

“I am very disappointed I didn’t make it,” freshman Hunter Fulmer said, “It made me determined to make it next year.”

Hunter wasn’t the only student disappointed to not make the band; his brother Fisher also plans to use what he learned from the experience to make it next season.

“I was very upset to not make the honor band,” Fisher Fulmer said. “but I have already started practicing, and I am positive I will have no problem making the honor band next year.”

Kilgore and Zacarias were excited to make the band, even if they were nervous during their auditions and even afterward.

“When I tried out I was so nervous I was shaking because I knew how important the honor band is,” sophomore Yahir Zacarias said. “I was really surprised to walk over and see that I made the band.”
