Greenland may not be one of the most realistic movies ever, but it definitely keeps viewers on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen next. It’s a scary glimpse of an entirely believable situation that has the entire world in danger. With the imminent arrival of a massive and heretofore unknown comet that has appeared out of nowhere and is coming very close to Earth, John Garrity and his estranged wife and son are soon in trouble. The comet’s tail contains huge chunks of debris that are heading straight for earth, and when the first one obliterates Tampa and creates a shock wave that knocks John off his feet in Atlanta, it becomes clear that things are about to get very bad. The good news is that John’s family has been selected as part of a top secret government evacuation program and they head to Greenland. Before they can get there, though, they have to survive the trip. Along the way, the Garritys experience the best and worst in humanity while they battle the increasing panic and lawlessness surrounding them. As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.

I highly recommend this movie. It’s something you can watch with the family and even learn a thing or two about what might be coming in our future. Gerard Butler did a very good job portraying a dad who just wants what’s best for his family, and the love he has for them shines through.
