Theatre students performed In the Heights on December 14 and 16, bringing the musical to life for the audience.

“I was so glad I was able to participate in such a special musical,” senior Lilah Molina said. “Since it was my last one, I wanted to d the best I could. It’s probably the best I’ve ever done in a musical.”

The musical, written by Lin Manuel Miranda, follows the events of three days in Washington Heights, a neighborhood in New York City.

“I feel like it was something new and exciting,” junior Kaleigh Rhodes said. “We usually do old plays. It was exciting to do something that takes place right now.”

Students began preparing for the musical months ahead of time, especially with the dance numbers that took place throughout the musical.

“We had a choreographer come,” Molina said. “We’ve never done that before. It was a lot of work, but I think that work really showed in our performance.”

Sophomore Mollie Dittmar says her experience with the musical “was amazing.”

“We had so much fun doing this,” Dittmar said. “I loved it. This is something I won’t forget any time soon.”
