Schindler saves thousands from certain death

Schindler+saves+thousands+from+certain+death

Based on a true story, Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List is about German businessman Oskar Schindler. He arrives in Krakow in 1939 ready to make money. He starts a company to make cookware and utensils, trying to win military contracts. He joins the Nazi party for political expediency. He staffs Jewish workers to work in his factory. When the SS starts exterminating the Jews in the Krakow ghetto he arranges their protection so they can keep working for him. Later he realizes that by doing this, he is saving them from the certain death that would await them in the concentration camps. He then starts demanding more workers and bribing Nazi leaders to keep Jews on his employee list. At the end of the war, he had saved a total of 1,100 lives. The movie was nominated for 12 Academy Award and won seven.

This movie proves that in the mist of darkness, a person’s light can be seen. That is exactly what Oskar Schindler does: in a generation of hate and death he overcomes it and saves thousands of innocent lives. This movie demonstrates the horrors of the concentration camps as well as the brutality of the Nazis while showing how one person can make a difference.
