After two nights of violent protests in Charlotte, North Carolina, a state of emergency was declared and the North Carolina National Guard arrived in the city. Additionally, the number of officers from the NC State Highway Patrol was increased. The addition of these additional resources kept the city from setting mandatory curfews, a plan that was on the table earlier int he day.
