College recruiters typically focus on high school juniors and seniors, but in the case of freshman Jesus Garcia, they are already looking. Colleges already showing interest in having Garcia come play football for them include University of Houston, Navarro, Washington State, and North Carolina University.

“If I had to pick [from those] it would be Washington State,” Garcia said. “My dream, though, would be Baylor University.” The Football coaches have emailed, sent letters, and have even came to see Garcia.

Football all started in the sixth grade for Garcia. After helping to win the Super Bowl for the Leon County Lightning, he went on to be a part of undefeated seasons in both seventh and eighth grades.

“Football means everything to me,” Garcia said. “it’s my life.”

With last year’s scores stimulating him, Garcia believes the Buffalo football team will soon be seen in a State Championship game.

“We’re not there yet,” Garcia said, “but we will be.”
