Seven Buffalo FCCLA students traveled to the State FCCLA Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi April 9-11.

Randy Salazar, Brianna Johnston, and Annel Escobar took 2nd place in Chapter Service Project Portfolio. They will advance to Nationals in Washington D.C. in July.

“I feel like we did a great job presenting our project at state,” Salazar said. “Hosting the anti-bullying program for the elementary students back in January was a great project and I am glad we are able to share our success with others at the National level now.”

Gracie Ferguson earned a gold medal in Etiquette as well.

Chelsea Harter and Laura Espinosa participated in Chapter in Review Portfolio.

David McAlpine competed in Sports Nutrition as well.

The Buffalo FCCLA has seen a huge increase in numbers this year, a 210% increase to be exact. This year they have 31 members compared to last year’s 9.

“The kids brought their personal best to the table at the state competition and I am proud of each and every one of them,” FCCLA Advisor Wendy Neyland said. “I am very excited to carry my first team to Nationals.”
