Robotics members Brittany Scott, Cody Pilkington and Kaiden Loep watch nervously as their robot runs the course at area competition.

The robotics team placed fourth at area competition last weekend, missing out on a trip to state competition in May. They two junior high teams each placed second in their categories and will advance.

“For us getting fourth having the amount of experience that we have, we did pretty well,” junior Brittany Scott said. “Our robot had some glitches and that stressed us out, but in the end we all knew that no matter what happened, we still are a team.”

For team members who had never competed before and didn’t know what to expect, the contest was especially nerve-wracking.

“I was so nervous; I did as much as I could on the robot,” freshman Kaiden Loep said. “It was sad that the meet was our only one, but I do feel that I learned a lot from it.”
