Garbage Patch grows, researchers worried

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is growing. Predictions say that 80,000 tonnes of plastic have been found in California and Hawaii. In the middle of the patch, the most plastic ever recorded is there. Researchers have used planes and boats to find this patch. According to researchers, debris and other pieces of trash converge to a specific part of the ocean due to rotations, currents, and winds located in the North Pacific. The Ocean Cleanup Foundation in the Netherlands has released a statement saying that plastic concentration is growing and becoming a huge problem. They hope that these findings will push people to finally take action against the flow of trash and plastic into the ocean.
