The smell of hot glue guns filled the air and the floor was scattered with bits of ribbon.

During homecoming week, floral design students were creating their own custom mums. Students had a hard time with the ribbon due to everyone wanting ribbon at the same time. The class was excited to participate in this activity and be part of school spirit.

“It was fun to make my own mum,” junior Iveth Molina said. “It was hard at first because everyone was fighting over the ribbon.”

Another assignment found students to learned about the parts of a flower. They had to create a diagram of their own flower to learn the different parts of a flower. Teacher Mikaela Hall knows that the students enjoyed this assignment of making their own flower but also learning throughout the process of this project.

“Floral design is one of my favorite class,” sophomore Emma Reeder said. “I was very interested in learning different parts of a flower.”

Currently, Students are taking the time to learn about the origins of Thanksgiving. The class has been watching about what is Thanksgiving and how it came to be. The class is making cards to the teachers and staff telling them that they are thankful for them and adding creative details to their cards.

“We wanted to show appreciation to the teachers and staff and to tell them that the students are thankful for them,” Mrs.Hall said. “Try to motivate the teachers and staff to make it through the week.”
