Band members traveled to Valley Mills earlier this month to compete in CenTex. Sophomore Andlie Kilgore made the honor band in bass clarinet, and junior Emma Cocking in clarinet. The two musicians, along with director Jeff Villarreal and junior high students Josh Boettcher and Kaleb Barzda, played in the CenTex Honor Band Concert last Saturday.

“I wasn’t really that nervous because I’ve done it before, and I was feeling very confident, Kilgore said. “I was very happy and proud because all the work was worth it. We were there for six hours and I was tired but excited at the time and proud of everyone.”Sophomore Andie Kilgore said

On concert day, there were four different bands: high school and junior high divisions for both Concert and Symphonic bands. Each band spent the day learning three songs and then performed for guests in the evening.

“It was weird playing with students from different schools,” Cocking said. “It was a different experience.”
