Riordan fans have lots to look forward to

Beloved children’s book author Rick Riordan has had several announcements to make as of late.

Students know Rick Riordan as the author of the famous book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Multiple announcements have come out of his website’s blog recently. News of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Disney+ series, as well as multiple new books, have sparked interest in Riordan’s fans, causing a surge of interest among the community.

A Disney+ TV series of Riordan’s breakthrough book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, was announced as greenlit in January of this year. Over the months, casting was announced, and the show began development in May. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to release sometime in 2024.

More huge news came on October 6 this year, when Riordan announced a standalone book featuring the fan-favorite character, Nico di Angelo. The Sun and The Star will follow Nico di Angelo on a quest into the underworld and is planned to release on May 2, 2023.

Riordan announced on October 18, the plans for an entirely new book about his first main character, Percy Jackson, and the community is going wild. Percy Jackson: Chalice of the Gods will be a first-person point-of-view book – the first since 2009 – and follow Percy Jackson as he goes on a quest to receive three recommendation letters from gods in order to attend. It will focus on Percy Jackson, along with Annabeth and Grover; another first since the 2005 Lightning Thief book. It is set to release in September 2023.

It has been a busy year for Rick Riordan fans, but 2023 is going to be even bigger.
