For the first time in several years the high school students didn’t end homecoming week with the Friday night game, but instead spent Saturday night at a homecoming dance. Senior sponsor Judith Harris spearheaded the event, which was themed Glowout and features plenty of neon and black lights.

“I really enjoyed the dance and the decorations were nice,” sophomore Madison Gilliam said. “My favorite part of the dance was dancing with my friends; it was great how hard everybody worked to make the dance perfect for us.”

Some of the seniors were upset that this would be their only high school homecoming dance, but they still had a lot of fun.

“Although I wish they had done the dance before my senior year, it was a lot of fun and a really good memory,” senior Lindsey Hardin said. “My favorite part of the dance was when they played Toxic by Britney Spears because it made me think of when I was a kid.”

Homecoming Queen Alani Jones said she had a really great time at the dance too.

“I was really excited and surprised when I won homecoming queen and the whole experience will be a great memory of my senior year,” Jones said. “I really liked seeing my friends and having fun without stressing about school.”

Even though the dance was just in the cafeteria, a place the students are in every weekday, the decorations transformed the area.

“I loved the theme of the dance because it brightened up the place and made it much more fun,” junior Alyncia Jackson said. “I had so much fun hanging out with my friends.”
