The varsity football boys took the win against Westwood at home last Friday, taking an 18-4 victory. They will face Troup in an away game on Friday.

Coach Jesse House is the team’s new football defensive coordinator, and he said he is impressed with the growth he has seen so far.

“I felt we have made improvements defensively since the beginning of the season,” House said. “It is a real accomplishment to shut anyone out defensively, so I was very proud of the defensive effort on Friday.”

House said that while the entire team had to work together for the win, he was especially impressed with Kannon Brantley’s performance.

“Kannon had a huge performance defensively last Friday night,” House said. “He had two interceptions, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and four solo tackles”

Overall, the team is hopeful that the victory is a sign of things to come.

“The way we played Friday against Westwood showed a glimpse of our overall goal for this season,” quarterback Aiden Savage said. “I really can’t wait to play Troup on Friday.”
